Dear Subscriber,
If you attended the opening of my solo exhibition Living History at Lowry Hill Gallery two weeks ago and especially if you added one or more of my paintings to your life I thank you for your support! I was very glad to see many old and new friends and collectors. And family.
There is still time to catch the exhibition before it closes on July 3. Seeing the layers of paint in person is key, of course. For further incentive, Sebastian Joe’s famous ice cream emporium is next door. Here are links to a brief video walk-through of the gallery from opening day, and photos of the works in the exhibition. Contact Lowry Hill Gallery for purchases.
Gallery talk
I gave an informal talk at Lowry Hill Gallery, now on YouTube. If you saw the low-definition video that was posted on social media, the sound and resolution in this one is substantially better. Added bonus: I shortened it by a third! The audience's excellent but too-far-from-the-mic comments and questions are still difficult to hear, unfortunately.
Exhibition also opens at Erie Art Museum
While still catching my breath from the Minneapolis opening, my big exhibition at Erie Art Museum opened to the public this past Thursday.
Please consider attending!
June 11 open to public - through November 15 [Part 1]
June 26, Friday, 5-10 pm opening reception
July 31, Friday, 5:30 - 7 pm gallery talk and walk
*Gouaches for sale, really?
I was asked by several by several people whether the works in this exhibition are for sale. Yes, it’s true: Besides a couple large oil paintings, after 34 years of keeping these gouache paintings in my own collection, I will be releasing them for sale. [Note: there will be a private webpage with available works from the show I’ll send a link to you when that happens if you are already subscribed to my “send notice of new paintings” updates, or if you just email me]. Caveat: All gouaches must remain in the exhibition until Part 1 ends in November, and some won’t be available until a subsequent museum exhibition, but those too will be made available for sale. I will answer questions via email, and keep a list for you and your choices.
New booklet at EAM
The Erie Art Museum has a limited number of heavy-weight 12-page booklets about my Intimate Landscapes exhibition in their gift shop/front desk available for attendees.
American Art Collector article
And finally, the last item: Sarah Gianelli wrote a great if short preview article about my two recently-opened, overlapping exhibitions. It was published in American Art Collector magazine (June edition). Here is a PDF of her article.
I hope to see you at the Erie Art Museum opening June 26, or the talk on July 30!
Keep in touch!
- Thomas
