Opening of "Living History" at Lowry Hill Gallery
Dear Subscriber,
I am pleased to announce the opening of Living History, my new solo exhibition at Lowry Hill Gallery. My representatives in the Twin Cities, Andrea Bubula and Muriel Lang, ran Groveland Gallery before starting this new venue earlier this year.
The exhibition opens Saturday, May 30, at 5-8 pm, and continues through July 4.
Living History is a tribute to the long-lived trees and ancient forests (old-growth) that inspired much of my travel in the last few years. Old-growth forests are a longtime interest of mine and the subject of several of my newest major and smaller paintings.
The title is also a nod to the historic moment in which we now find ourselves, almost 250 years to the day after the writing of a declaration of American independence from a perceived English tyrant, someone who happens to also been my five-times great-grandfather. I need to emphasize that I did not know George III personally -- after all, "Living History" is not a reference to my age.
At 4 pm, prior to reception, I give an informal talk at the gallery that is also open to the public.
For links to images of the works in this exhibition, check the gallery's website (it hadn't been updated with the exhibition works as of this writing) or reply to this email. If you subscribe to my New Paintings updates, you may have already received it.
