Dear Subscriber,
In the last several days my radar blipped three times with new news I learned and will relay here. The news has nothing to do with my soon-upcoming solo exhibition at Erie Art Museum. I was just made aware that two large works of mine are currently on display at two other museums exhibiting selections from their permanent collections, and a third work (lent by me) will be on display in a third museum exhibition in a few weeks.
At Georgia Museum of Art, in Athens, Reckoning after the Flood (2016, 40 x 48, oil on linen), is in an exhibition that ends very soon: We, Too, Are Made of Wonders, started in January and ends June 14.

I love this statement from the exhibition curator, Ciel Rodriguez:
“…[T]hese artists and poets remind us of the importance of awe and wonder in our daily lives…. Encouraging us to explore, be curious, and approach the world with a sense of awe, this exhibition invites us to contemplate… and find a sense of belonging in the vast universe we inhabit.”

At Minnesota Marine Art Museum, in Winona, Minnesota, Alma’s Buena Vista (2017, 40 x 60, oil on linen, shown on wall to left) is on display with other selected works in Fluid: What is Marine Art, and What Can It Be?, a long-running exhibition I just became aware of this week also. The exhibition examines and re-envisions the museum's role.

And finally, Butler Institute of American Art, in Youngstown, Ohio, just let me know they will exhibit a large work of mine, G.H. Old-Growth Forest (2025, 36 x 74, oil on linen) in their esteemed 89th National Midyear Exhibition, from July 12 August 20th. https://butlerart.com/

I hope one of these is close enough for you to visit.
I will write again post-haste (so interesting how outdated/updated that term can be now!), with new works and two solo exhibitions coming very soon.
