New video: A Painting's Progress

Dear Subscriber:

This is just a quick note to let you know about a new 3-minute video, uploaded yesterday, showing the development of a recent painting: "Ironwood Trail" (in the Allegheny National Forest, 46 x 74 inches, oil on linen). The painting is currently on display in The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, OH, through September 5th.

The time lapse sequence spans one minute, while the painting took five months from beginning to end — painting, scraping, repainting, rescraping, repeat. The resulting thick paint is an ecology all its own.
