Historical Society of Pennsylvania collection,

a closing event for the national parks exhibition,

and NPR takes in the show

Dear Subscriber,

This newsletter comes with timely news, but first, some exciting news that won't wait any longer. The Historical Society of Pennsylvania contacted me a few months ago, and I am now honored to announce that they have acquired for their permanent collection my pencil sketchbooks from Maine and the South of France, and a few oil and gouache sketches on paper. HSP is working on plans to display them in a future exhibition with other artists' sketchbooks.

Sketch for
The Earth's Eye
4 x 2-5/8 inches, 1996
Finished oil version
66 x 48 inches, 1996

In timely news - if you happen to be in the region - you are invited to attend a Meet the Artists event on the final day of the group exhibition Visions of the National Parks and Beyond, which includes 15 of my paintings, mostly from past residencies in parks. Five of the six artists will be there. No reservations needed -– it's an informal reception with light fare provided.**

Crary Art Gallery, Warren, PA
2 - 4 pm, Sunday, September 7

In broadcast news, Jay Moran, Morning Edition Host for Buffalo's NPR affiliate stations of Buffalo Toronto Public Media, made a trip to Crary Art Gallery and interviewed me and Wendy Bale, another artist in the exhibition. The story aired on August 27. A link to it is forthcoming on my website's news page, and in my next newsletter.

Best wishes,

-- Thomas
